Habitat Meadow Orchard

Meadow Orchards form an important component of our cultivated landscape. Especially in the densely populated and intensively agriculturally used area of Central Europe these kinds of orchards offer refuges for many kinds of insects, bats and birds. The coexistence of young and old fruit trees is not only useful for men but offers also sufficient deadwood and cavities for seriously endangered animals which cannot find suitable breeding areas in intensively cultivated forests. By extensive cultivation of these meadows, especially such plants can (re)settle which are able to survive only in case of late and rarely mowing frequencies.
Trees of old proven varieties do not carry high yields but they can live without fertilizers and biocital products. The selection of suitable varieties guaranties for a healthy orchard’s population in the meadows for generations. The county estate feels obliged to the generations contract and revitalizes the meadow trees by nourishing and replacement planting. Lovers of old delicious varieties can discover what the search for - you can find apples, pears, plums and cherries. Cherry brandy processed from our sun-ripened cherries (Querfurt King’s cherry) can be purchased at Farmers Delicacy.

Kirschernte 2016 am Landgut

Cherry picking 2016

Thanks to good weather we had again a good cherry harvest this year. Many helping hands picked cherries of old proven kinds from the trees in our meadow orchards. With love and carefulness we made delicious fruit spreads from the cherries. Information about the products from our own fruit you find in Farmers Delicacy.
