Biotope area at the country estate Kemper & Schlomski
Since 2004 the total area of appx. 110 ha, of which appx. 45 ha is grassland, is being farmed according to ecological principles.
The areas former used for intensive conventional agriculture have been gradually converted. In addition to the consequent usage of species-rich seed, grass cuttings from selected mountain meadows were introduced onto the recultivated land during the project „Biodiversity in Open Land Saxony“.
Together with the Saxony State Ministry of Environment and Agriculture and the regional nature conservation authority areas were identified, then integrated in agrienvironmental measures, and continuously developed.
For more details about the funding programme of the Saxony State Ministry of Environment and Agriculture please see the German Page.
LGKS has invested in special biotope technology in order to ensure the conservative cultivation of the valuable grassland areas. A cultivator with portal cutter bar, belt-type side rake, and a small round baler are applied for the cultivation of the valuable biotope areas. Flora and fauna are optimally preserved.
