One of the largest yew tree populations in Saxony is located at the hillside of the Muerglitz-valley near the village Schlottwitz. A guided tour organized by the country estate Kemper & Schlomski will lead you to the fascinating trees and the unique vegetation of the FFH-area Mueglitztal (FFH: fauna-flora-habitat-guideline, see also http://www.umwelt.sachsen.de/umwelt/natur/natura2000/2014.aspx) and it's animal inhabitants. During the excursion forestry scientist Kerstin Heyne will teach you about the yew tree from the needle to the root including the legends and myths told about this tree. Nature protection expert Karl-Heinz Rehn knows about the vegetation in this are more than anyone else and is looking forward to interested guests. Panoramic views overlooking the Mueglitz valley as well as Saxony Switzerland are included.
